Sorting a decade of family papers after a house move
A family relocating from a large house to a smaller condominium had accumulated over a decade of unsorted documents. They needed to decide what to keep, what to store and how to make the retained materials accessible.
Bequestra conducted a Records Tidy-Up over three sessions at the family home. Documents were sorted into categories, duplicates removed, and a folder and index structure created. Digital scans were made of the most important items.
Volume reduced by around 40%. Everything retained was labelled and indexed. The family moved without the stress of carrying unknown materials and have since said they refer to the index regularly. Duration: 3 weeks.
Archiving three generations of photographs and heirlooms
An elderly client had a large collection of family photographs, documents and heirlooms spanning three generations that she wanted to preserve and pass to her children in an organised form.
A Memory & Heirloom Archive project over six weeks. Each item was photographed, catalogued with a short description, and the photographs digitised at high resolution. The client was consulted at each stage to ensure descriptions were accurate.
Over 340 items catalogued. A digital archive was delivered on USB and as a printed catalogue. Each of the client's three children received a copy. The client described the experience as one of the more meaningful things she had done in recent years.
A family workshop before a planned house handover
A couple in their sixties were preparing to hand their family home to their adult children and wanted to record their own values and stories before doing so, as a personal document rather than a legal one.
A full-day Legacy Notes Workshop at the family home, with both parents and their two adult children attending. Somchai facilitated separate and joint sessions to capture individual and shared perspectives.
The family left with a set of completed prompts, a framework for continuing the process and a shared experience that all four described as unexpectedly moving. The parents returned for a Records Tidy-Up the following month.
